When I was invited to join a small group of UK travel agents on a Beachcomber educational trip to the Seychelles, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. Although I'd previously booked the destination for clients, nothing prepares you for that first breath-taking view of turquoise waters set against a backdrop of stunning, dramatic greenery. It far exceeded my expectations - raw, natural, and utterly captivating.

Our group consisted of five agents, expertly hosted by Sarah Archer. From the moment we landed, it was clear this would be a memorable experience. We travelled via Dubai, with a smooth connection (although it is worth noting that Dubai Airport is vast, and a fair bit of walking is required between gates!) Upon arrival in Mahé, everything was efficiently handled, and the private transfers immediately set the tone for a seamless, stress-free week.

During our stay, we had the opportunity to experience five unique properties:

  • Constance Ephelia

  • Hilton Labriz

  • L’Archipel

  • Constance Lemuria

  • Carana Beach

We also visited several additional hotels, including Kempinski, Raffles, Story, Hilton Seychelles

Northolme, and Le Domaine de l’Orangeraie. Each hotel had its own distinct character and appeal, however, there were two in particular that blew me away.

Constance Lemuria immediately created a lasting impression, with its warm welcome, elegant atmosphere, and beautifully designed suites. It was a hotel that I couldn’t recommend enough. My most memorable evening of the trip was our dinner there, it perfectly encapsulated the relaxed luxury of the property as well as the exceptional fine dining experience.

Le Domaine de l’Orangeraie was another standout. Its understated, rustic charm felt authentically rooted in its surroundings. Stylish yet natural, it surprised me in the best way possible, and left a long lasting impact.

One of the key insights I gained was just how different the Seychelles is compared to destinations like Mauritius. With Mauritius being one of my favourite places, I initially expected similarities, however, the Seychelles offers a more rugged, untamed landscape. It may be less manicured in parts, but its raw beauty, combined with the warmth and friendliness of the local people, creates a warm and kind atmosphere, different to Mauritius but equally as enjoyable.

Island-hopping was a core part of our itinerary, and we travelled between locations using a

combination of private transfers, ferries, and domestic flights. If given the choice, I would always encourage flying rather than taking a ferry, as sea conditions can be unpredictable - my journey from Labriz to Mahé was particularly choppy and though only a short crossing, even I couldn’t find my sea legs!!

Beyond the hotels, we were treated to a series of unforgettable experiences. Highlights included:

  • Visiting the Vallée de Mai nature reserve and seeing the iconic coco de mer palms

  • Meeting giant tortoises

  • Cycling around the charming La Digue Island

  • Exploring Victoria, the capital, with its lively markets and stunning architecture

  • Relaxing on Anse Beach, every bit as picture-perfect as you’d imagine

Throughout the trip, the food was exceptional - fresh, local, and bursting with flavour.

If I had to choose one defining moment, it would be that exceptional dinner at Constance Lemuria. It encapsulated everything that made the week so special: stunning surroundings, impeccable service, and a sense of immense gratitude to be in such a remarkable place.

This was truly a bucket-list experience. Travelling with a close-knit group of industry colleagues that I now consider friends, learning from one another, and gaining direct insight into what the Seychelles has to offer was invaluable.

With its microclimate, the Seychelles is a year-round destination ideal for couples and families

seeking a mix of serene island-hopping and refined, relaxed luxury.

A heartfelt thank you to Beachcomber and to Sarah for orchestrating such a seamless and inspiring trip. I’ve returned with a deeper understanding of the destination and countless ideas to share with clients who dream of discovering this unique paradise.
