Emma’s Blog: Why Our Family Holiday in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt Was Everything We Needed

Each family holiday stays with you long after you’ve unpacked your suitcase, and our November trip to the Red Sea coast is one I know I’ll treasure forever. It wasn’t just the winter sun or the incredible scenery, it was how it felt. Easy. Warm. Brilliant fun.

If you’ve been wondering if a luxury holiday in Egypt is right for your family, I can tell you now: it’s the kind of trip that fills your heart right back up.

Arrival at Pickalbatros Laguna Vista

The moment we walked into the hotel reception at the Pickalbatros Laguna Vista, we were immediately introduced to that famous Egyptian hospitality. Our passports were taken so they could check us in while we were invited to a late dinner (we arrived around 9 pm).

When we’d finished, we were shown straight to our rooms, which didn't disappoint, ground floor terrace rooms with direct access to one of the stunning pools. I remember standing there thinking, “Yes… this is exactly what I need.” And I was right.

Evenings That Filled My Soul

One of my favourite memories is so simple: sitting with a drink in hand, completely relaxed. No rushing, no worrying, no lists of things to do, just being fully present.

I even caught a photo of myself that evening, and I swear you can see the holiday glow in my eyes (and I don't post pictures often!). Those are the moments that stay with you.

A Private Yacht Charter on the Red Sea

One afternoon we set off on a private chartered yacht, and honestly, it felt like something out of a movie. The water was so blue it didn’t look real. It was such a special treat compared to a standard boat trip, worth every penny for the space and calm.

The crew were amazing, warm, funny, welcoming. By the time we stepped off the boat, it felt like we’d spent the day with friends we’d known for years. And the snorkelling in Sharm is just world-class... wow.

Then came our desert adventure, quads and buggies across golden sand with mountains towering all around us. We laughed from start to finish. A couple of us definitely looked like naturals… and a couple of us definitely didn’t! But that was the best part: the chaos, the dust, the wind, the thrill of it all.

Top tip: Next time we’re doing it at sunset. If the desert looks this dramatic in the afternoon, I can only imagine what it becomes when the sky turns pink.

Sunset Magic at Farsha Mountain Lounge

Our visit to Farsha at sunset felt like stepping into another world. It’s one of those places you don’t just see… you feel.

We sat together, watching the sun disappear into the Red Sea, and for a moment everything felt completely perfect. Then... silence. Followed by the lights and music, it was like nothing we'd ever seen. Definitely a highlight of the trip.

Why We’ll Be Back

Looking back, it wasn’t just the beauty of Sharm El Sheikh or the 5-star service, it was the moments we shared together:

• Laughing until our stomachs hurt in the desert.

• Relaxing days under the warm Egyptian sun.

• Adventurous days that reminded us how fun life can be.

• Evenings where we could be as involved or quiet as we chose.

This holiday gave us exactly what we needed: time, connection, joy, and memories I know we’ll be talking about for years. Sharm, you were everything we hoped for and more.

And yes, we are already planning our return. 🌴❤️✨
