Luxury Holidays in Mauritius
Why We Love Mauritius
There's something about stepping off the plane in Mauritius — the warmth wraps around you, the light is different, and everything just slows down. It's an island that gets under your skin. Powder-white beaches, water that doesn't look real, and a warmth from the people that makes you feel completely at home. We've been sending clients here for years, and honestly? We love it more every time.
Mark Twain once wrote that "Mauritius was made first, and then heaven was copied after Mauritius." Having been there many times ourselves, we can't really argue with him.
Mauritius isn't just a beach holiday — although the beaches are extraordinary. It's a place with real soul. The island is a beautiful mix of Indian, French, Creole, and Chinese cultures, and you can taste it in the food, hear it in the music, and feel it in the hospitality. One moment you're enjoying freshly caught seafood at a beachside restaurant, the next you're wandering through the colourful markets of Port Louis or driving through rolling sugar cane fields with mountains rising behind them.

What makes it brilliant for our clients is the variety. You can spend your mornings snorkelling over coral reefs, your afternoons exploring rum distilleries or hiking through tropical forest, and your evenings dining at world-class restaurants — all without feeling rushed. The resorts here are some of the finest in the Indian Ocean, with a level of service and attention to detail that's genuinely hard to beat.
Whether it's a honeymoon, a wedding, a special family trip, or simply time to stop and breathe, Mauritius delivers.
Claire Oliver, our Mauritius specialist, always says it best: it's a destination that has something for absolutely everyone — and somehow manages to feel like it was made just for you.

Best Time to Visit
Mauritius has a lovely subtropical climate, so honestly, there isn't really a bad time to go. That said, some months are better than others depending on what you're after. The north and west coasts tend to be warmer and more sheltered from trade winds during the winter months, which is worth knowing when choosing your resort.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far are the resorts from the airport?
It depends on the coast. South coast resorts like Shandrani are about 20–30 minutes. Le Morne (Dinarobin, Paradis) is around an hour. Grand Baie (Royal Palm) is roughly an hour and a quarter. East coast resorts are 50–60 minutes.
Do I need vaccinations?
No specific vaccinations are required for Mauritius, but it's always worth checking the latest NHS advice before you travel.
Is it worth leaving the resort?
Definitely. Mauritius has a gorgeous interior and a rich culture. A day trip to Chamarel, a visit to Port Louis market, or a catamaran trip to a nearby island are all well worth it.
What's the food like?
Incredible. It's a real melting pot – Indian curries, Creole seafood, French fine dining, and Chinese flavours all on one island. The resort restaurants are brilliant, but do try a local roadside dholl puri too.
Is Mauritius good for families?
Absolutely. The calm, shallow lagoons are brilliant for younger children, and most of the top resorts have excellent kids' clubs and family suites. Shandrani and Paradis are particularly good family picks.
