The Zuri White Sands, Varca Beach - South Goa
Posted — under Luxury Holidays.
I spent two wonderful weeks at this Luxury All Inclusive Beach Resort in March, one of the best months to visit Goa. Travel here between November and March as well as April and May and you will find the temperatures much hotter than other times of the year, but it can also be fairly humid.
Unlike North Goa, the South is much quieter with a laid-back feel with the most beautiful white powder white sandy beaches. Once a Portuguese Colony it is also rich in cultural heritage.
I stayed in a premium ground floor room leading straight out onto the Pool which was lovely. I like to dine well on holiday and The Zuri offers fine dining in its 6 Restaurants, my favourite's being the beach front seafood Restaurant and the Pan Asian! However, on a couple of evenings I did venture out and ate in the nearby village of Benaulim which was really nice and very reasonable too.
I enjoyed a few Ayurvedic massages in the spa which had a relaxed and calm feel to it and loved to walk along the beach where I often used to see the water buffalo and meet the occasional beach hawker who in fact were always very polite.
If you are going to visit Goa, you must make time to get out and about - I had an amazing day with the elephants in the jungle, took a boat trip down the river and ended the day washing the elephants before riding them bareback through the jungle. The elephants were well looked after and were always in control of what they wanted to do – it was a truly fantastic experience and one that will live with me forever. The journey to and from the elephants was so very interesting too, with my driver pointing out things of interest all along the way.
I loved the people and the culture of Goa and will most definitely return, combining it next time with a stay in India and maybe trip to the Taj Mahal!
