Best time to visit
Boasting a warm temperature and relatively high humidity all year round, Mauritius makes the perfect year round holiday destination. However, the best time to visit Mauritius depends entirely on what it is you want to do there.
With only having two seasons (with the summer months being from November to April and winter from May to October), the hottest months tend to be December to March peaking average highs of 30.1°C in both January and February, with the cooler – yet still warm – months being June to August averaging somewhere around the mid-20s.
Visitors shouldn’t experience much in terms of distinct weather changes from one season to another, but there are “transition months” to mark the change in season which tend to be during the months of May and October.
Although February falls into one of the hottest months, it is also known as the wettest.
That being said, there is quite a difference in the rainfall across the island, with the east coast getting the majority of the rain and cool breezes (making it absolutely perfect for surfing), whilst the more sheltered west coast is much drier and calmer throughout the year.
The sea temperature across the destination is warm all year round, reaching highs of 27°C in the summer months… a swimmer’s paradise and water sports galore!
Where to stay
